Calling all artists and non-artists to participate in collective art-work. The Measure of Thougt requires from each participant just a simple symbolic action: between lighting and then blowing out the fire of one single match in front of a video recording device each participant will think about a society that lives in harmony with nature and with each other. Every video will be collected and inserted into one single movie. In the moment of final talks in Climate conference in Cancún this work aims to point out, how much can we do by ourselves without the help or restrictions imposed by governments and world leaders.

Every participant is a Performer. Every participant is an author. This is a collective artwork.

DEADLINE: january the 1st 2011

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. First, please download the sheet with box and instructions: HERE!

2. Print this A4 image on paper. It is recomended to use thicker paper, so your box will be more resistant. But even the regular office paper will work. Please save the environment and print just one sheet per person. You are also welcomed to use this box as a gift: you can give it to your relatives or friends in the upcoming christmas days, or just any day as a sign of friendship.

3. Build the box, get one match, light the fire in front of the camera (more detailed instructions in the sheet). Feel free to choose your favorite spot for this simple performance. It might be in your house, or outside, it might be in the darkness, or full light. You can choose favorite spot of your city, or an intimate place. Anyway, there are certain conditions, that work better: In a windy day it is easier to perform the action in the closed space. It is almost sure, that the wind will blow out your fire before you. The light of the fire is more visible in darker environment. Or you might also use dark clothes, so the fire will pop up on dark background. If you will frame yourself in the image with more than half of your body in, the fire will be hard to see. But these are just recomendations, it is your video and your choice.

4. Send the video to: oto.hudec@gmail.com. If your video exceeds 10 MB, please use web share site. There are several ones that offer free account (look at yousendit, or 4shared). Please note that your movie will occupy in the final work very small, scale, so HD quality is not necessary. Your movie will be used for the purpose of this project only. It won´t be used for commercials, or any political organisations.

Together with your movie/link , please send your: name, date of capture, location of capture. If you prefer to stay anonymous, it is perfectly ok, but location is requirred.

5. Your video will be included in the common work and posted on this blog in January 2011. In the future the work might be offered for an exhibition. Your name will be mentioned as one of the participants and authors.
